Elder Financial Abuse

We act for people, or their representatives, who have been the victims of elder financial abuse and are seeking recovery.

Peter Gauld the principal of the firm was admitted to practice in 1979 and practised in the litigation and dispute resolution areas until 2005.

After a short break he re-commenced practice as Gauld & Co. involved in providing advice in the “elder law” area – covering matters such as retirement village advice, aged care accommodation, reverse mortgages, deceased estates, granny flat agreements and recovery actions in relation to elder financial abuse.

As the practice developed Peter became more and more involved in recovery actions for victims of elder financial abuse, unfortunately a growing area of practice, and decided, in early 2019, to move exclusively into this area.

This website was accordingly created to introduce these services and to provide advice about this area of practice. The original Gauld & Co. website still exists, but will not be regularly maintained and will ultimately be closed down.

We are the only legal firm in Victoria which will be a practising exclusively in this area. Our aim is to provide good and timely advice, and to get these disputes resolved as efficiently and cost effectively as possible. We are more than happy to talk to our clients initially on an obligation free basis to establish whether any maintainable claim exists.
